I FOUND THIS NEW INTERVIEW OF TINY FROM ESSENCE MAG & I MUST SAY I AM SO HAPPY TO SEE OUR GIRL DOING BIG THINGS...CHECK OUT THE INTERVIEW

COURTESY OF TINYOFXCAPE.COM

It takes a strong woman to stand behind her man during the toughest of times. For Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, the fiancée of Atlanta rapper Clifford “T.I.” Harris, Jr., supporting her hubby-to-be as he prepares to serve a one-year prison sentence (for possession of illegal fire arms) has not been as difficult as most would believe. The mother of six and former member of the disbanded female R&B quartet Xscape sat down with ESSENCE.com to discuss how she’s coping with T.I.’s pending departure and why she’ll never leave her man.

ESSENCE.COM: We so miss you and the days of Xscape! Are you back to stay?
TAMEKA “TINY” COTTLE: (Laughs.) Not that I ever left, but I think I’m back to stay. I’ve just been busy being at home with my kids and just being a mother. I’m also opening a nail salon, working on a reality show and just putting myself back out there without compromising too much of my time with the family.

ESSENCE.COM: Juggling a career and motherhood is no joke. When can we expect to hear your heavenly voice again and will it be with all of the ladies of Xscape?
TINY: It’s funny because I know people love the music because they tell me all the time. It would be great if we reunited, but I don’t think there’s a big chance of that happening because we can’t ever agree on details like who should represent us or how we’re going to present ourselves, but we still have love for each other. I don’t talk to the sisters [LaTocha Scott and Tamika Scott] as much, but I talk to Kandi [Burruss] a lot.

ESSENCE.COM: That’s great to hear because life is too short. As T.I.’s fiancée, you’ve endured a lot of scrutiny and hearsay regarding his upcoming sentence. Has it been difficult?
TINY: It hasn’t really hit me. His sentence is a year and day and begins either toward the middle or end of March. I’m praying he gets out sooner. I’m pretty sure when the day comes for him to leave I’m going to be very sad and lonely. Although I know our family is going to be straight [financially], I’m still going to miss him like crazy because I got used to spending time with him when he had to be home. I’m going to go with him and stay with him until he gets ready to walk out that door.

ESSENCE.COM: At any point during T.I.’s trouble with the law did you ever feel like throwing the towel in on your relationship?
TINY: No, not at all. It never crossed my mind, especially not for what we have as a family. We are way stronger than that. Now, there are times we broke up, but it was because of personal things we were going through, but not for anything like this present situation. Yes, I was upset that this happened and disappointed by the way it happened, but I didn’t keep arguing with him about what happened. At the end of the day, I’m not leaving; I got him. The great thing about all that has happened is that it has made our family closer and we got to spend more quality time.

ESSENCE.COM: What do you think is the biggest misconception people have about you and T.I.’s relationship?
TINY: That we’re not a real couple. They think because we’re not married yet and have been engaged for two years that something must be wrong. I know it’s a long time, but there are so many restrictions placed upon him now before we can think about planning a wedding. There is so much love between us it’s ridiculous, and we like [spending] time together. So the things that people say and write about us doesn’t bother me. I know what we have and what he shows me every day and that’s all that matters

Story originally reported from Gina Serpe

Ok all of you should know about the tragic death of actor John Travolta's son Jett Travolta. Well supposedly the 47-year-old medic is in custody after the prosecutor(Bernard Turner) in the case ovjected to bail!! According to Turner, police are still searching for a "certain document" at the center of the case that they say may not be recovered should Lightbourne be released. The nature of the document, like all other details pertaining to the supposed $20 million extortion plot, has not been disclosed, although there has been speculation that it deals with a photo taken of the body of 16-year-old Jett Travolta while in transit to the hospital.

Former Bahamian lawmaker Pleasant Bridgewater resigned from her position as senator Saturday after being charged with both abetment and conspiracy to extort.

She has since been released on $40,000 bail and is expected to be arraigned on the charges Wednesday in Nassau Magistrate's Court.

"I assure the Bahamian people of my complete and total innocence," Bridgewater said upon her release. "I am satisfied that when the full story comes out that I shall be fully vindicated.

"How these innocent actions can be so misconstrued, so perversely twisted to mean something other than it was, is a mystery."

The third person taken into custody, Travolta family friend and member of parliament Obie Wilchcombe, has been released without charge and, per Acting Police Commissioner Reginald Ferguson, is "assisting the police" with their investigation.

Wilchcombe maintains that he was the one who first alerted the Travolta family to the extortion scheme after being tipped off by Bridgewater herself, and wasted no time in proclaiming his innocence after his release.

"I did a noble thing," he told Us Weekly.

The Travolta family has yet to comment on the arrests.

well you know frontstreet will bring more details to the story as it unfolds!!!

Sonny Perdue
GOVERNOR

Dear Mr. Brooks:
Thank you for your letter regarding proposed changes to the current 2-year academic programs in Georgia. Last year, I formed a working group and tasked them with investigating innovative ways to create long-term, comprehensive educational reform to make Georgia more globally competitive. This working group reviewed a provocative national report called Tough Choices or Tough Times to determine how Georgia might best reform its educational policies and practices to achieve these goals. I believe the experts serving on this group fully understand the urgency of the challenges we face, and I am confident that their leadership will bring the changes necessary to facilitate higher student achievement.
One of the things the working group discussed was the possibility of charging the current Technical College System with the administration of all technical and 2-year academic programs offered in Georgia. The group believes this would empower the University System to streamline its focus exclusively on world-class research, 4-year degree programs, and graduate degree programs. At this point, this is simply something that the working group has explored and included in its draft recommendations. No formal recommendations have been issued and no action has been taken.
While no formal report has been issued by the working group, the Technical College System of Georgia and the University System of Georgia have begun exploring the possible strategies that would be required to implement the recommendation of the Tough Choices or Tough Times working group. I believe there are efficiencies that can be found through this strategic analysis of missions of both the University and Technical College Systems that would greatly benefit our highest-level learners, and I optimistically anticipate formal recommendations of this working group.
I hope this information is helpful to you. Thank you again for writing

[All-students] Important Message Regarding "merger" of two-year colleges and tech schools

Hello GPC Students,

You may or may not know that Governor Purdue is currently reviewing a proposal entitled “Tough Choices or Tough Times.” The section of the proposal that should concern you discusses the “merger” of the two-year colleges with the tech schools. According to several newspaper articles, the term “merger” is a misnomer. GPC and other two-year colleges would no longer exist. We would no longer belong to the University System of Georgia (USG). Instead, two-year institutions would be absorbed by the tech schools.

Why should you oppose this “merger”? As a GPC student, you have benefitted in the following ways:

1. Quality education. You are taught by award winning faculty in small classes. Because GPC belongs to the University System of Georgia, all the college-level courses you take transfer to any of the four-year colleges or universities within the University System of Georgia. GPC also has TAG Agreements (Transfer Agreement Guaranties) with over thirty public and private four-year institutions and universities in and out of the state. If you maintain a certain GPA at GPC, you are guaranteed admittance into a particular school.

2. Success: GPC transfers more students to the University of Georgia, Georgia State College, and many other four-year state colleges and universities than any other two-year school in the system. Many of our students graduate from four-year institutions with honors. To help all students succeed, we offer remedial courses to prepare students for college-level classes. Remediation at the college level will be non-existent if the governor passes the proposal. GPC also offers English as a Second Language (ESL) to support Georgia’s diverse student population. Under this merger, ESL and other academic programs will not survive.

For those of you who wish to earn an associate’s degree, you will have fewer available programs of study.

3. Access: We offer quality education at a reasonable price at multiple locations around the metro-area: Clarkston, Decatur, Newton, Dunwoody, and Alpharetta. We also offer the largest selection of freshman and sophomore level online courses than any other school in the University System of Georgia. Students can complete their first two years of course work without coming to campus.

If you, your friends, and your family want access to an affordable quality education within the University System of Georgia, we ask that you contact Lt. Governor Casey Cagel, your state representatives, and Governor Purdue to state that you do not support the merger of the two-year schools with the technical college system. Two-year colleges should remain members of the USG because of the benefits they offer you and all Georgia citizens.

Because the governor could approve this proposal at any time, we have provided the links below to assist you (you may have to cut and paste the addresses into your browsers):

1. Lt. Governor Casey Cagel: 404- 656-5030; E-mail: http://ltgov.georgia.gov/00/agency/contact_us/0,2688,2199618_87997337,00.html

2. State Representatives: To find names, numbers, and e-mail addresses: Congress.Org http://www.congress.org/congressorg/state/main/?zip=30097&action=setaddr&view=myofficials&state=GA&submit=GO Type in your address to locate your two state representatives.

3. Governor Purdue: 404-656-1776; E-mail: http://gov.georgia.gov/00/gov/contact_us/0,2657,78006749_94820188,00.html

If you decide to contact Lt. Gov. Casey Cagel, your state legislators, and Gov. Purdue, please do so as soon as possible. If your state legislators are unfamiliar with the proposal, ask them to contact Lt. Gov. Cagel.

If you have any concerns, feel free to discuss them with your instructors.

Thanks for your support,

Beth Jensen, Ph.D.

The maker of Beanie Babies can forget about getting a fist bump from the first lady.

Michelle Obama has issued a statement about Ty's newest dolls for their TyGirlz Collection, Sweet Sasha and Marvelous Malia. The plush pair are named after her and President Barack Obama's daughters, Sasha, 7, and Malia, 10.

Guess that's one purchase the trendsetting first family won't be making...

Houstons Restaurant in Atlanta!!

One of the restaurants I would like to eat at. I like the environment I went there for a birthday party for a friends friend of mines. It's a very nice place at night time for you fellas to take that special lady or ladies for your own night out. check out the review I got from www.atlantarestaurant.net

Houstons Restaurant in Atlanta actually have two locations, which are listed above. The entrees are from $13-$20 and the place is gorgeous - stained wood, lots of brass and exposed brick and plants. The earth tones and deep booths work well with the food, which is big portions of American food such as prime rib, burgers and steaks (plus salads, roasted chicken, salmon, and porkchops). Their baby back ribs are terrific, as is a dessert of a big brownie with Kahlua and vanilla ice cream.

Houstons Restaurant in Atlanta has a live piano, patio, and full bar. The servers are very quick, and so while the restaurant is usually crowded, you still get your food very quickly. The waiters and waitresses are very friendly, but don't get in your face. You can take your time eating there, or you can request to get your check with your food if you want to eat quickly. The bar is so good that many people go there just for the bar - great people watching!

$2 billion might be available for education; funds also possible for transportation, infrastructure, Medicaid

By AARON GOULD SHEININ

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Friday, January 23, 2009

Georgia stands to receive more than $2 billion for education and infrastructure, and more than $5.6 billion in all, through President Barack Obama’s federal economic stimulus plan, according to estimates of the bill now before the U.S. House.

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Bill would provide more than $800 billion in federal spending and tax breaks if signed into law. Obama has made the stimulus package a key component of his early agenda and the Democratic-controlled Congress is expected to approve a plan by mid-February.

Under the draft proposal in the House, Georgia could qualify for more than $1.31 billion in transportation and infrastructure money and $1.17 billion in K-12 education money over two years, according to estimates produced by staff of the key committees.

Of the remaining money for the state, more than $2 billion would be part of the State Fiscal Stabilization Fund, a majority of which would be directed to support elementary, secondary and postsecondary education, according to an analysis by the National Conference of State Legislatures. The remaining stabilization fund money could be used for public safety and assistance to schools, colleges and universities.

The state’s Medicaid program, currently facing a $208 million hole, could see an influx of $358 million this year and $384 million in 2010 through increased federal matching funds, according to the NCSL analysis.

CHECK IT OUT GOOD SONG!!!
